Earthing and lightning protection.
Earthing and grounding systems, air termination and conductors, and surge protection — the path a fault is supposed to take.
A strike takes the shortest path to earth. The whole discipline is making sure that path is the one that was designed for it, and not the one that runs through a switchboard.

Earth rods, solid copper earth plates, lattice copper earth mats, concrete earth pits, bentonite powder and threaded couplings.

Conductors & air termination
Bare copper tape, bare aluminium tape, air terminals, ESE air terminals, lightning rods, earth bars and disconnecting links.

Internal protection
Type 2 surge arrestors, type 1 + 2 surge arrestors, lightning strike counters and lightning event counters.
